I had a quick overnight in Manila and decided to stay at the Makati Shangri-La. The hotel is iconic in Manila, and while it may not be the most modern hotel, it is arguably one of the best known, together with the Peninsula. A host of new, more modern hotels have opened, including the Fairmont, the Raffles, the Shangri-La BGC, and the Conrad (which I recently reviewed) though the Makati Shangri-La remains well-regarded. I wanted to check it out for myself.
Shangri-La is launching their own preferred booking partner programme called the Luxury Circle. Similar to Virtuoso and American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts, the Luxury Circle programme gives you special benefits for booking with an agent enrolled in the programme.
Opening 1 May, the new Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong looks beautiful. Joining its sister properties, the Island Shangri-La, Kowloon Shanrgi-La, as well as a Hotel Jen, this is Hong Kong’s first Kerry hotel and will be located on the Kowloon waterfront. It is sure to be a new stunner on the iconic Hong Kong skyline. It is also conveniently located to the ferry for quick access to Causeway Bay.
Shangri-La and Taj have officially launched their “Warmer Welcomes” programme in what may have been the quietest launch of all time. This is not a separate loyalty programme, but instead a linking of earning/redeeming rewards, as well as benefits between each programme.
