Shangri-La is launching their own preferred booking partner programme called the Luxury Circle. Similar to Virtuoso and American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts, the Luxury Circle programme gives you special benefits for booking with an agent enrolled in the programme.
Included in these benefits are the following:
- Hotel room upgrade, pending availability
- US $100 or 10% of room rate, whichever is higher (per stay), hotel credit
- Complimentary breakfast for 2, including in-room dining
- Early check-in and late check-out, depending on availability
- Welcome amenity (generally a fruit basket, though variable based on the property)
These are great benefits and are mostly along the same lines as what you would get with Virtuoso or American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts. That being said, while many hotels in these programmes used to give a US$100 credit for resort activities, many have been shying away from this in recent years, in exchange for a free lunch or free massage, which I imagine is quite a bit less costly for the hotel. The option to dine in-room is also an excellent option, with many hotels excluding this as an option for the complimentary breakfast benefit.
Perhaps the one negative of this is that you have to book through a preferred travel partner with Shangri-La. I am not sure why they do this, as I would so much rather book it on my own. I often make reservations while I am walking on the various hotel apps, so to have to email/call a travel agent to get this booked seems like a waste of time. I wish they would at least make this available for direct booking to Jade and/or Diamond members, this would be an excellent perk to add to the Golden Circle programme.
This is a fantastic way of receiving additional benefits with Shangri-La hotels and getting a better value of your stay. Do you plan on making use of this?
